Blog questions
As I read through the assignment and how to subscribe, I'm confused. What is the difference between subscribing and following? Is the sites I've joined the same as subscribing to? Where do we get notified about someone posting to their own blogs? Is there a difference in the 2 Posts that are on a blog page, the one with the icon and the one with Post(atom)? So many questions, but perhaps someone knows the answers. I'm a bit clearer on what a blog can do than I was for the first class we took. I'm building up the courage to set up my wiki- I think its cool that its a Hawaiian word, I just feel like I should maybe be playing the ukulele. Thanks to anyone that may see this! Phyl

I can't answer all of your questions. I just reset my blog for this class, and I clicked on the follow. I know that on my profile page or my account page (I forget which one), I can see a list of the blogs that I am following. It also shows the post for each individual.
ReplyDeleteI have to get up the courage to start the wiki, too. I am taking this one small step at a time! I wish we would have had class this past weekend so that we could ask questions! The book does say that to learn these things we have to use them. Practice! Practice! Practice! One of the books I read stressed collaboration. I think we are pretty good about trying to help each other.
Good luck!
Don't worry... I feel just as lost about a lot of these assignments! ;) Do you have any idea where we find out our 'group' for the wiki assignment? It was supposed to be posted by today but I don't see anything. Thanks for your help! (Or anyone elses!)
ReplyDeleteHi Phyl I might have the answer to your question. When you use the 2Post thats on the blogs it will add it to your favorites under Feeds that what it did for me but I am also using windows7 not sure what it does if you are using XP or Apple. The RSS feed lets you read what people have posted on their blogs by using google reader. Not sure how it lets you know if someone has posted any thing new. I just set up all the RSS feeds tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhen you click on the posts button and the drop down screen appeared, did you click on "add to google" or "atom"? I feel like I did it wrong and I'm going to have to redo stuff after class next week.
